Sustainability in Action at III Catering

At III Catering, sustainability is an important part of how we design and deliver hospitality experiences. We are actively working to reduce waste and creating more responsible event operations by focusing on composting and recycling across our catering services.

Composting is one of the small actions that can create a big environmental impact, helping reduce landfill waste while nourishing a greener future. Inspired by the broader sustainability goals of major global sporting events, III Catering is committed to supporting thoughtful hospitality practices through Houston 2026’s sustainability program.

Together, these efforts turn every event into an opportunity to care for our community and our planet.

How We Close the Loop

Food Composting

Organic waste generated from catered events is carefully separated and collected for composting. Instead of being sent to a landfill, food scraps are transformed into nutrient-rich compost that helps return nutrients to the environment.

This process significantly reduces waste while supporting healthier soil systems. The finished compost is repurposed to nourish local green spaces such as the pollinator garden in TMC Helix Park, supporting biodiversity and strengthening local ecosystems. Through this simple yet meaningful cycle, each community event contributes to a larger effort to give back to the environment.

Glass Recycling

Glass waste from events is carefully sorted and collected for recycling and reuse. With being one of the most recyclable materials, glass can be recycled without losing quality, allowing it to be made into new products repeatedly. This reduces the need for raw materials and keeps waste out of landfills.

What makes glass especially valuable is not just how commonly it’s recycled, but how well it can stay in a continuous loop when properly recovered.

Through this initiative, we’re moving closer to a low-waste, circular approach to hospitality – reducing environmental impact while improving how materials are managed at every event.

Wine Cork Recycling

Natural wine corks collected from events are diverted from landfill and sent for recycling and reuse. As a renewable natural material, cork can be repurposed into a variety of new products, extending its lifecycle far beyond a single use.

Collected corks can be recycled through dedicated collection programs, including Spec’s Wine, Spirits & Finer Foods cork recycling initiative. More information about their program can be found here.

By participating in this process, we reduce unnecessary waste while supporting the reuse and upcycling of natural materials, reinforcing our commitment to more responsible hospitality practices.

OUR GOAL

Less waste. More impact. Better events.
